Now we need to know the dimensions of the core. Take a look at the picture. We are looking for the dimensions A, B, and C.

A few important things to keep in mind when measuring your core:

  • When measuring the height, measure between the headers in the finned area only. When measuring a radiator, the height is always between the header plates, regardless if the radiator tanks are on the top and bottom or on the sides.
  • When measuring the width, only measure fin to fin. Do not include the side pieces.
  • If the radiator is together, the best way to measure the depth is to get a toothpick or similar and push it through the center of the core between the fins. You then mark the toothpick and measure it.

Helpful tip! When measuring the overhang, measure from the fins to the front edge of the header plate.

The header raduis measurement is related to the rounded corners on the header plate. A dime has a perfect radius of 3/8". A quarter is 1/2".
